Monthly Pot Luck Dinner
|
|
The Village@Aversboro continue its custom of monthly pot-luck
dinners for the residents in the club house. Over 60 people
attended the Pot Luck on July 3rd. This time it was catered
by Carolina Bar B Q and everyone watched the fireworks displayed by
the Town of Garner at Lake Benson Park.....all seen
from The Village Clubhouse. Happy Birthday, America!

Good Things Happening.....
|
|
It
took about two years to plan The Village at Aversboro. In the
beginning, there was a focus group of about 12 people that met with
the developer, builders and realtors. These people were all
in the 55+ age group and were excited about the community coming to
Garner. They discussed what they would want in the
custom built homes being planned for the active adult
community. They said to do away with
the whirlpool tub in the master bath....have a large walk in
tile shower with a seat. Another example is a workshop area
in the

garage. Some plans have two bedrooms and an office
which allows for the workshop area. One couple even came with
a typed up list of what they thought would be desirable in the
custom built homes. What I'm trying to get at is that couple
has now successfully sold their house in another neighborhood and
has signed a contract to have a new home built in The
Village. We're excited to have them and appreciate all the
people that had input on the planning to make our community what it
is....a Great Place to be! Thank you!

Fun Discovering the Triangle
On Saturday July 31, 2010 Carole and I went to
the Raleigh Wide Open festival. The festival on Fayetteville St.
was wonderful. There were all kinds of food, 12 Bands,
games of all kinds for children. There were
booths selling just about anything that you could imagine. A light
rain and low temperature felt so great after all the hot weather we
have been having. After walking a lot we decided to have
dinner at Tir Na Nog, which is an Irish restaurant on Blount St.
Fabulous food and drinks. We went back to the festival and
just were about to go home
|
when we found out at the
Progress Energy Center that they were setting up for the
fireworks display for 10:30 PM. Being only 7:30 PM we decided to
see what was playing at the Progress Energy Center. We were able to
get tickets for Annie which was fabulous. After the show we
came out and they started the fireworks which were fantastic. We
were never so close to a fireworks display. They lasted for a
half hour and were spectacular. We arrived home in the
Village after midnight and realized that we could not have planned
that day to be as wonderful as it was!

Senior Citizens in Action: How Folks Over 55
Can Make a Difference in Their Lives
Getting older does not necessarily mean taking
Geritol, wearing a hearing aid that looks like a fist or being
locked up in the house all day. What I have found in recent years
is that only because the numbers may go up every year, so can one's
spirit. Read more »
