Monthly Pot Luck Dinner
|
|
The Village@Aversboro continue its custom of monthly pot-luck
dinners for the residents in the club house. The next
pot-luck is Saturday, March 6, 2010. It's
always fun to see who shows up and what is brought for
dinner......no doubt the food will be delicious, especially
the desserts!! We'll see how many new residents attend
for the first time...it is a great way to meet the neighbors. The
name tags help tremendously. This month the realtors
are bringing a spiral ham since some prospective buyers
are planning to attend. Looking forward to Saturday
night!

Good Things Happening.....
|
|
It
took about two years to plan The Village at Aversboro. In the
beginning, there was a focus group of about 12 people that met with
the developer, builders and realtors. These people were all
in the 55+ age group and were excited about the community coming to
Garner. They discussed what they would want in the
custom built homes being planned for the active adult
community. They said to do away with
the whirlpool tub in the master bath....have a large walk in
tile shower with a seat. Another example is a workshop area
in the garage. Some plans have two bedrooms and an office
which allows for the workshop area. One couple even came with
a typed up list of what they thought would be desirable in the
custom built homes. What I'm trying to get at is that couple
has now successfully sold their house in another neighborhood and
has signed a contract to have a new home built in The
Village. We're excited to have them and appreciate all the
people that had input on the planning to make our community what it
is....a Great Place to be! Thank you!

Fun Discovering the Triangle
|
|
The Village at Aversboro has
been busy during the month of Jan. I joined 20 ladies on Jan 22nd
for lunch at The Cheesecake Factory. Everyone enjoyed their
lunch together. Extra cheesecake was bought to take home for
sharing.....needless to say, it was great
cheesecake!
The men's breakfast was on Jan 15th. They enjoyed the Garden
Gate Cafe on Aversboro Rd. It was held a week earlier than
normal....hard to keep up with that group!

Two couples went on a trip to Wake Forest last week and
enjoyed The Tea Room. One of the couples, who had
moved from Wake Forest to The Village at Aversboro, enjoyed showing
where they lived before moving to Garner. The other
couple had moved here from CT and Wake Forest turned
out to be a great place to explore. In fact, the former
CT couple took another couple to Wake Forest the next
day!

Senior Citizens in Action: How Folks Over 55
Can Make a Difference in Their Lives
Getting older does not necessarily mean taking
Geritol, wearing a hearing aid that looks like a fist or being
locked up in the house all day. What I have found in recent years
is that only because the numbers may go up every year, so can one's
spirit. Read more »
